Setting realistic goals for losing weight and getting healthy

I need to change my mindset.
I would like to learn to say no to unhealthy foods or other foods that will cause me to overeat.

I need to lose weight.
I would like to lose weight because of my health.  I am also self-conscious about my weight.

I need to exercise daily.
I would like to exercise for at least 10-30 minutes, five days per week.

I need to affirm myself daily.
To build my self-esteem, affirmations and application of said affirmations are something that I would like to do daily.

I have so much to do and I need to have my mind renewed daily.
In order to do well, I would like to learn to set my goals one day at a time.  I will pray to the Lord for the renewal of my mind.

I need to lose 2 lbs a week, but it is hard.
I would like to lose between 1-2 lbs per week.

I can't lose weight and I am frustrated.
To be less frustrated, I would like to apply my affirmations daily so that the frustration will be less.  I would like learn what is causing the frustration and act on it.

I am afraid that I won't act on what I have affirmed.  I am just afraid that I will fail.
I am not perfect and I should not expect perfection daily.  I would like to keep pressing forward and not give up.

I need to lose weight because life will be easier for me.
I would like to lose weight and not take my for granted.  There are things that I am now able to do that others take for granted.

I will never lose weight because I feel alone.
Getting support is a very good thing.  There are others who are doing the same thing I am doing and I am to take their advice seriously.

I must have a strong mindset.
I would like to change my mindset one moment at a time, one day at a time.

Weight loss is hard.
Weight loss is a journey and I would like to continue on that journey.

My goals of losing weight will never be accomplished.  It will take too long to lose weight.
My realistic goal is to lose weight, keeping it off, and not give up.  Worrying about the time period will make things harder.

Good day today

I have done well in the exercise department.  I walked nearly 1.3 miles for 35 minutes.  It is good that I went from 1.5 miles per hour to a record speed of 3.1 miles per hour, which on a treadmill, is a workout to itself. I also tried to formulate a meal plan which is easier said than done...for a whole month.  I tried that once before only to never follow it.  I really need help in following meal plans.  The exercise plans are much easier to follow.

Commitment to lose weight and exercise....but for me

Well, despite the unhealthy choices I made and the fact that I didn't exercise, I am proud of myself for making a commitment to exercise and lose weight.  I am no fan of dieting, which I realize is what I have been doing most of my life.  There is no use trying to deal with the mistakes of the past.  I won't kick myself or live in regret for all of my errors.  I know now what to do.  Everyday is a lesson learned.  I need to not just be patient with all things, but to forgive myself.  I believe that is what God has been teaching me.  To be patient and having a sound mindset is the key to losing weight.  I fear giving up and I am not confident that I will stay with eating healthy.  Dieting did not do it for me but making small changes have.  I rarely if ever drink sodas anymore, and white foods like white rice I rarely miss.  However, I am clueless at times about eating in moderation, which has become a big issue for me, and so is eating processed, unhealthy foods.  I don't want to try or wish, I want to do it, which is what I am actually doing right now.

How I am doing with living a healthy lifestyle

I have been trying the model my diet website and needless to say, it has hit home with me.  I am not sure I can show the pictures, but it does accurately show my body as it truly is.  I am self-conscious about my weight.  I weigh a lot and I want to lose 100 pounds. I don't want to get to the point of giving up.  I need help in being patient.  That is one of my problems.  I am not patient enough.  I need to be patient so that I can deal with the ups and downs of living a healthy lifestyle.  I don't wish to compare my body to others, which I do quite often.  My weight has been down for years and I am not happy with the way I look.  I would be lying if I said I was.  I have felt guilty because I let myself go sometimes.  But the best way to look at things is to be patient, live for the moment, and improve on what to eat and how to exercise.  Also, not comparing myself to others would do well for me as well.  Tomorrow has its own evil thereof.

I love my hair

So I decided to braid my hair last night.  It wasn't that bad.  In fact, I loved doing so.  It softened my hair, detangled my hair, and it left with the full length of my hair.  This morning, I tried to have it fixed the way I wanted to.  It was an epic fail.

So what I decided to do was a roller set using foam wrap.  Hopefully, I will end up with better results.  I would like to know what it would be like to have hair straightened out without heat.  I tried straightening my hair with heat.  Needless to say, it was a fail.  It didn't last and it became a waste of time.  I am not against using heat to straighten hair, but at the same time, I know there are pros and cons when it comes to doing so.

I just hope it turns out well.  I have been natural for a while now and I like being natural.  I have already explained why.  But it is freeing to no longer have to worry about relaxing my hair every six to eight weeks, dying my hair to cover grays, or bleaching my hair because I thought was a cool thing to do.  In the past, I did not take great care of my hair.  In fact, I hated styling my hair.  I took my hair for granted back then.

Now, I no longer do so.  I find myself grateful that I have hair to take care of.  I wash and condition my hair once or twice a week, I co-wash with deep conditioner once a week.  Then I spray on with a homemade leave-in conditioner mix.  It is made of conditioner, water, and oil.  In this case, I use castor oil.  Because of past dryness, itching, and damage, I tend to spray on this leave-in every day.  I love the fact that I can actually do more with my hair.

All is well...today.

All is well today.  Well, except for a sore hip, all is well.  It is an inconvenience that I hope will soon pass.  I love to exercise and I cannot believe it.  I have yet to figure out a schedule but I am just happy.  I am already feeling the benefits of exercise.  I think what is making me the happiest is the fact that I am actually doing something.  That is how it is throughout life.  When one actually applies themselves, they accomplish something, even when it seems minor.  That is how I feel right now.

Exercised some benefits.lol

I am so thrilled that I have exercised today.  To me that is a little victory that I will always cherish.  "Moving a muscle" is very important to me and to my health.  I wonder how important exercise is to mental health.  I have both obsessive compulsive disorder and bipolar disorder and I would like to know that links between the severity of obsessions and moods with exercise.  Well, so far, my mind is clear.  I could "kick myself" for not realizing this before.

"Let it Go" as sung by Idina Menzel

This too is such a beautiful version.  While she does have more of a range compared to Demi Lovato, Idina's version that I have shows Elsa singing her version.  This version also makes me want to see "Frozen".  This version also inspires me to let things in the past all go.  I know that it is the wrong message, but that is one of the things that I get from this song.  Idina Menzel is a fantastic singer and actress.  She obviously put her heart and soul into this song and I look forward to hearing more from her soon.  All I have to go is watch YouTube videos....lol.  Then there's her past performance on "Glee".  Her resemblance to Lea Michelle is striking by the way.

I know that I am not a music critic per se, but I could care less.  While I am only an armchair quarterback, it behooves me that people define what is real music and what it is not.  It is sad as there is no need for the real vs unreal music, or whatever it is called.  Yes, I believe that there are some who are better singers or rappers than others.  I have my tastes like Tupac and of course, classical musicians, and Britney Spears.  I even listen to gospel as well as secular music.  I am no fan of using curse words in songs, so I prefer clean music.  I don't like for rappers to call women, black or white, derogatory names.  That is not talent, it is rude, crass, and truly demeaning.

We all have our musical tastes.  Is Britney Spears that bad?  Apparently not.  I like her and so do millions of others. Does she lip sync? I rather that she would not because lip syncing and autotune are cop outs for those who are not the most "talented" of singers and it is also deceptive.  I personally do not know if she does lip sync and I think that it is sad that some in the music world feel that they have to lip sync in order to promote an album.

I don't like the idea of who or what is real music and what isn't real.  What is music that is not real?  To me that makes no sense.  No doubt about it, Idina Menzel and her version of "Let it God" in MY personal opinion are the real dea.

"Let it go" as sung by Demi Lovato

This is a beautiful song sung by Demi Lovato.  I don't usually listen to a lot of the young artists but she is quite talented.  I saw her on 'Good Morning America' and not only is she is talented, but she doesn't rub me the wrong way.  I don't know this girl at all, but her version of the song "Let it go" is so beautiful, and so is Idina Mendel's.

It is quite calming and makes me want to watch "Frozen".  There seems to be an innocence about this song that so many of them lack.  There are so many songs out there that children cannot listen to.  There is a message behind this song.  It reminds me of letting things that are not beneficial to me go.  We all have a voice.  It is okay to express ourselves.  That is the message that I got from this song.  It may not be the message that is intended, but that is the message I got.

I love listening to music but who doesn't?  My likes are different from others.  I listen to all types of music whereas I rarely listen to music where people even say a curse word.  I just wish that all music was like this, but it would be quite boring if all music is the same.  I don't mean to sound like a music critic but I believe that all of us have our likes and our dislikes and that is okay.

Losing weight and having PCOS

Today I have made two meal plans today and I intend to follow them.  That is what I am supposed to do.  I have PCOS and eating and being healthy are vital.  I am now living with the complications of having Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  It has not been easy.  I sometimes feel guilty because there are others who have it worse and I can only think of my own issues.  I am grateful yes, but I am reminded daily that every morsel of food could lead to a health benefit or a health risk.  I am also reminded daily that every step or every push could also lead to a health benefit or a health risk.  It is critical that I lose weight and keep it off. In this journey, little miracles are big ones.  Little victories are big ones.

Marriage

Gen 2: 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Matthew 19:4-6 (4) And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female, (5) And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? (6) Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Matthew 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery

Prov. 31:10-31 (10) Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price [is] far above rubies. (11) The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. (12) She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. (13) She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. (14) She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. (15) She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. (16) She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. (17) She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. (18) She perceiveth that her merchandise [is] good: her candle goeth not out by night. (19) She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. (20) She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. (21) She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household [are] clothed with scarlet. (22) She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing [is] silk and purple. (23) Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. (24) She maketh fine linen, and selleth [it]; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. (25) Strength and honour [are] her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. (26) She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue [is] the law of kindness. (27) She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. (28) Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband [also], and he praiseth her. (29) Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. (30) Favour [is] deceitful, and beauty [is] vain: [but] a woman [that] feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. (31) Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Matt. 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great [is] thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

John 20:17-18 (17) Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God. (18) Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and [that] he had spoken these things unto her.

Lev. 21:13-14 (13) And he shall take a wife in her virginity. (14) A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, [or] an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

Lev. 20:13-17 (13) If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them. (14) And if a man take a wife and her mother, it [is] wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you. (15) And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast. (16) And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.

Eph. 5:22-29 (22) Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. (23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (24) Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing. (25) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (26) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, (27) That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (28) So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. (29) For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church.

1 Tim 3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

1 Tim 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach. These verses illustrate how seriously God takes marriage.

Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and his wife. Any deviation from that definition such as adultery is a violation of that covenant. Regardless if one’s station in life, marriage is to be taken seriously. With marriage comes vitue, love, perseverance, honor, obedience, faithfulness, and chastity. Marriage is not just a piece of paper as some may say. It is something that must be honored. People who take their vows serioulsly should not be ridiculed; they should be respected. Thankfully they are especially in an age where the divorce rate in the United States is nearly 60%. God’s Word illustrates the marriage covenant between Christ and the Church. Christ is not only the Bridgroom, but also Savior, Counsellor, Husbandman. Those in marriage are also called to be examples for others such as the deacons and the bishop, but also know that there are consequences to not knowing that Christ is the Head and God commands us to love Him with every fiber of our being. We are to be faithful to Christ just as He is faithful to us. We are to honor our relationship with Him just as He loves us and has died for us. He rose again. He is not only the Son of God, he is God Himself for all things were created through Him.

Real Fathers, Real Men

Tom Joyner knew exactly what he was talking about when he says those words every Thursday morning on his show.  “Real Fathers, Real Men” rings true.  Any man that does not take care of his kids is not taking care of his responsibility.  The man is called to be the head of the home.  So often, women are the single heads of the home, and these women are commended for doing the double duty that she does.  “Children are a gift from God.” (Psalm 127).  Men, if you have kids, you will be held accountable!  Be there for your kids, love your kids, respect your kids.  One of these days, when your kids grow up, you will regret that you weren't there.  Spend time with your kids.  Your time spent with your kids is more precious than gold.  This is a message for moms, too.

Father’s Day is coming up.  There are millions of people, young and old, black and white, who wish that their fathers were there.  This is the day in which we are to celebrate all fathers.  Fathers, I believe, are the most underrated men in the world.  This year, give your father, or any man in your life, your best, even if it is a card or a hug.  It is the thought that counts.  These men are to be commended for being there, for loving and respecting others, and for doing the will of God.  Whether your dad is strict or lenient, iron out any differences or just say thank you.  After all, life is too short and no relationship should be taken for granted.

Religious v Righteous

Religion is just another way of saying that it is man's way of appeasing God or their god their own way. Religion is not something that will save one from sin.  Man is saved by Jesus Christ.  He is the only way to the Father.  It has been a long time ago since I have been saved and I know that man made religious rules limit and cause anything but liberty and peace for the believer.  I feel like writing this because there is so much religion in the world but not enough salvation.  Jesus died a horrible death for us undeserving sinners for us to be so religious instead of righteous.  Religious people I believe have no idea what righteous people go through on a daily basis.  I believe this because there is a difference between religious and righteous.

Affirmations

For the past 8 days, I realize that consistent application of all things learned is the key.  I knew that but I had to let it sink in.  I hate it when that happens.  I struggled with that for a while now and I just cannot take it. At least now I can say that I had the answer.  Affirmations are not just about making one feel good about themselves, affirmations can be a tool to live by.  Affirmations aren't just there to make me feel good about myself.  They aren't just phrases to build me up.  Affirmations are there to help reveal the real person inside.

I hate the term "past their prime"...these guys still have the talent and the 'it' factor

I have no problem seeing a guy, or girl, who is no longer in their physical prime doing what they love or doing what they are trained to do.  I know that after age 40-45, one's sight is affected and the body begins to slow down as compared to someone who is in their 20s especially.  But with all of us, aging is just a state of mind.  I wonder that to be true.  I hope to be living long enough to see these fighters, actors, and entertainers over again, because these performers show us younger people that they "still got it".  These performers remind us that even though our bodies age, we can still be young at heart and youthful in attitude.
