A Musing about what I think is really going on...
I was watching this story a few years ago about illegal immigration. I couldn't believe that those who come to this country illegally (breaking the laws to get here) are getting free health care that people who aren't criminals, and natural born citizens have to jump through hoops to get. Something is obviously wrong here. Why is it that a diabetic, someone who is overweight, or a smoker have to pay higher rates when someone who committed crimes and those on welfare and food stamps who don't need them get free healthcare have to pay more for health insurance? How come the government doesn't do anything about that? Why are they so concerned more about a 450 lb diabetic who was born here raising health insurance rates than someone who came here illegally who is 5'9", probably not living the healthiest life his or herself, and weighing 165 lbs? I don't weigh either of those but why is the government and people like Mayor Bloomberg and the Obamas feel this way? A 32 oz. soft drink every once in a while will not kill a 5'9" tall, 200 lbs. person like a pack a day smoker over time?
